Pre-Engineering Program Requirements
- Acceptance is contingent upon admission to Ohio University as an engineering student for the fall semester of the upcoming academic year.
- Applicant must complete an application and submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor.
The Russ College has selective admission for students wishing direct entry into any engineering degree program. In general, to be eligible for direct admission, freshman applicants must have one of the following:
- A high school background that includes four years of mathematics, one year of chemistry, one year of physics, and four years of English, and rank in the top half of their graduating class.
- A composite score of 24 or better on the American College Test (ACT) or a combined score of 1100 or better on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).
Students who lack one of the two sciences, but who meet all other categories outlined in the first requirement, may be admitted directly to an engineering degree program and can make up the missing science while enrolled at Ohio University.
