Video: Imgur founder and Vine star talk entrepreneurship on Reddit co-founder’s tour stop

Apr 7, 2014

Watch what happened when internet entrepreneur and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian stopped at Ohio University in February as part of his book tour.

While visiting Athens – home to innovation and entrepreneurship programs for students in every discipline, including engineering and technology – Ohanian shared the spotlight with Russ College grad Alan Schaaf, BSCS ’10, and got an introduction to freshman Logan Paul, an industrial and systems engineering freshman, who are featured in the video.

The examples of Schaaf, who founded the image-hosting website Imgur as a junior computer science student and Paul, the 13th most popular personality on the Vine video-sharing website, illustrate Ohanian’s message to OHIO’s forward-thinking students who want to build a business that capitalizes on the Internet’s capabilities for creating communities. Schaaf’s company has won two Crunchies Awards for Best Bootstrapped Startup before accepting its first round of investor funding last week in the form of $40 million from venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz
