Cooperative Education and Career Programs

The Russ College of Engineering and Technology’s Cooperative Education Program (co-op) is a five-year, optional program that combines classroom learning with paid, career-related work experience. Participating students alternate on-campus study with work experience, earning academic credit and a salary as well as gaining a competitive edge on their careers. About 25 percent of Russ College students in their sophomore through senior years, in all majors except aviation, participate.

More than 240 employers hire Russ College students. At a co-op worksite, students work in degree-related assignments that are roughly equal to their skill levels. Returning students encounter increased responsibility and more challenging assignments. Students receive scheduling assistance from co-op advisors in each Russ College department.
