Cellular and Biomolecular Projects

The basic unit of human life is the cell. Cells are made up of complex sets of macromolecules including proteins, oligosaccharides, and nucleic acids (i.e., RNA and DNA). Understanding cellular behavior at the molecular level is often the key to understanding human disease. Investigators working at the cellular and molecular level aim to use and expand their knowledge of the molecular mechanisms of cells. This fundamental knowledge guides the development of the next generation of diagnostics and therapeutics.
