Engineering Ambassador Activities 2004-2005
Resume Workshop

Winter quarter, the Engineering Ambassadors presented Dr. Jim Fales, chair of the Department of Industrial Technology, for a lecture on job searching. An estimated 25 students came to hear about cover letters, resumes, and how to use them to get the job one wants.

Dr. Fales presented his opinions on "guerilla tactics" that he believes can guide any job seeker toward getting his or her foot in the door of any company. Some of these tactics included extensive research on the company, and the dos and don’ts for polished and professional resumes and cover letters. He also provided the group with several resume and cover letter examples -- "the good, the bad, and the ugly." Students learned to catch the easy-to-make mistakes that can make or break chances at obtaining a position.
