Research Interests: The purpose of the virtual haptic back project is to create in virtual reality, using haptic interfaces, a simulation of the feel of the human back to assist in training osteopathic medical students and others in palpatory diagnosis of somatic dysfunction. Also, Dr. Howell examines the physiological effects of manipulative treatment of somatic dysfunction.
