Dr. DiBenedetto has fifteen years of experience in precision approach and landing system development and analysis, giving him an in-depth understanding of the technical and operations requirements relevant to system-engineering activities. He was awarded the first Avionics Engineering Center Director's Award in 1987. As a Program Engineer for more than eight years, Dr. DiBenedetto provides direct managerial and technical supervision of the Microwave Landing System (MLS), Mobile Microwave Landing System (MMLS), and CNS Systems Office programs at the Avionics Engineering Center. He also is involved in MLS research and implementation at the international level. In addition, he supports Center research efforts related to the Instrument Landing System (ILS), Global Positioning System (GPS), Advanced Surface Movement and Guidance Control System (A-SMGCS) standards development, and integration of satellite-navigation technology into the United States National Airspace System.

Since 1986, he has advised the United States Member of the All Weather Operation Panel (AWOP) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). He is a member of Eta Kappa Nu, Tau Beta Pi, and Sigma Xi professional societies.
