Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering since 2006, Dr. Greg Kremer also teaches the program’s senior design capstone and courses in automotive engineering. He is also an associate director for the Ohio Coal Research Center, supervising energy-related projects such as engine testing of biodiesel blends and performance testing of pressurized solid oxide fuel cells.

Kremer, selected as a Carnegie Scholar for 2005-2006, participates in the scholarship of teaching of learning with such projects as developing and assessing student achievement of ""professional skills outcomes"" — ABET accreditation board outcomes related to teamwork, communication, global/societal impact, ethics, lifelong learning, contemporary issues, and others. Kremer is his department’s organizer for assessment and continuous improvement.

Kremer is also advisor for the student chapters of the Society of Automotive Engineers and Engineers Without Borders, which traveled to Ghana in 2006 and continues a partnership with a rural village there.

He began his career as a mechanical design engineer for General Electric Aircraft Engines (1988-1993) before pursuing his advanced degrees. He joined Ohio University in 1998.

Energy and the environment, including alternative methods of power production and clean coal technologies; Advanced automotive technologies, including alternative fuels, fuel cell vehicles and hybrid-electric vehicles; Design of mechanical systems, including total life-cycle design, design creativity and decision methods.

Something you may not know about me: I love to experience nature on foot or on a mountain bike. I've run 6 marathons and ridden in numerous 100 mile mountain bike races and competed in other endurance and adventure races. I'm also very active in my Church community.
