Step 2 Research your options,select a program, and apply for a passport.

- Share program information with your academic advisor. You should meet to review your DARS report and to discuss your plans to study abroad and program options.
- Apply for a passport so you will have it before you leave.
Step 3 Select and apply to one or more study abroad or exchange programs by their deadlines. - For OU study abroad and exchange programs, you visit Applying to education abroad.
- Applications for third-party provider programs, including OIC, OU affiliate, or Non-OU programs, are available from the provider.
- Some third-party provider programs require signatures from an Education Abroad advisor. If your application does, please bring the form to the OEA and leave it for signature with your name, Oak ID, and PID number. It may take up to a week for signatures, so plan ahead.
Step 4 Once you've accepted your nomination to the program, it's time to prepare for your experience.
- If you are on an OU study abroad program, your faculty director will give you information about necessary orientations, workshops, and forms before you leave. Visit required forms for OU study abroad programs for information on necessary paperwork.
- If you are participating in an OU exchange program, you will meet with your program coordinator for orientations and information on paperwork and forms.
- You will need to fill out a foreign study checklist, which will assure that your credits and financial aid will apply to your degree. Your program coordinator will give you the form and explain this process to you.
- Visit required forms for exchange programs to find out about the additional paperwork needed.
- You will attend the Office of Education Abroad’s pre-departure orientations.
- If you are participating in an OIC, OU affiliate, or Non-OU program, you will need to fill out a foreign study checklist. This will assure that your credits and financial aid will transfer. This form is available at the Office of Education Abroad and an advisor will discuss the procedure with you.
Students who study, teach, or intern abroad for OU or transfer credit or who participate on an OU study abroad program will be assessed a $150 administrative fee on their OU account. The $150 fee will be charged one time per program per academic year. If you participate in more than one program in one academic year, you will be assessed a fee for each program. |
