Please note: Deadlines are for the Ohio University Office of Education Abroad. Our deadlines are one week in advance of the Consortium’s deadline so that we can review applications and send them to the OIC on-time.

The Ohio International Consortium has established this scholarship in honor of Donald N. Nelson’s many contributions to international education.
How much aid is available?
An award of $500 is given to help the student cover the costs of the international education experience.
Who is eligible?
The applicant must:
- Be a U. S.citizen who is a full-time, degree-seeking undergraduate from an Ohio International Consortium member school.
- Beat least a rising junior with a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA. The
selected student must return to the home campus for at least one semester/quarter to share the overseas experience. - Be accepted into an approved study abroad program for at least one semester/quarter in which the student is affiliated with a foreign university (not a language school). Preference will be given to first-time study abroad students taking courses in the native language of the host country.
Requirements:
Submit a 500-word essay explaining reasons for studying abroad, how the study abroad program relates to the applicant’s chosen field, the impact it will have on the applicant’s career/graduate school experience, and how the experience will be shared with others upon return to the home campus. Financial aid will be considered.
