OEA Pre-Departure Sessions
The OEA holds several mandatory pre-departure sessions every quarter. The presentations are scheduled for summer and fall 2008 as follows:
- May 7, 2008; 5:10PM - 7:00PM; Walter Rm#135
- May 9, 2008; 1:10PM - 3:00PM; Walter Rm# 235
Bobcats Abroad
Several Ohio University offices present at this session, mandatory for all OU students studying abroad. Topics covered include the student code of conduct, judicial policies, and health and safety abroad. Bobcats Abroad is held twice every quarter.
Cross-Cultural Workshop
Living in a new culture is exciting and stimulating. Learn how to make the most of your experience with tips for communicating across cultures and handling culture shock. This session is held twice every quarter.
Tips for Travelers
Students who’ve studied abroad in the past talk about topics such as traveling around your country, accessing and handling money abroad, communicating with your family and friends at home, living with a host family, and general tips on packing and planning your experience. This program has two iterations per quarter.

Missed the presentations?
If you missed the presentation, you are required to complete the Bobcats Abroad Quiz. Please do so and return to 185 Lindley Hall.
Note: Choosing not to attend the presentations and completing the Bobcats Abroad Quiz in its place is not permitted. Students who miss the presentations will be required to hand in a written excuse stating the reason he or she could not attend either session.
