Greek in Greece

If you are a student (graduate or undergraduate) of Classical or Koine Greek and would like to learn your way around Greece, pick up a bit of Modern Greek, and sharpen your Classical Greek reading skills, Ohio University’s Greek in Greece Program may be just what you’re looking for.
“Greek in Greece” is a study abroad program designed specially for students with two years or more of ancient Greek. The curriculum consists of two intensive reading courses, in Homer and Plato, an introduction to Modern Greek, and a topography and history course, during which you will visit the principle sites and monuments on the mainland and the islands.
Eligibility and selection process
“Greek in Greece” students are serious, committed, and focused on learning ancient Greek as well as they can. Students should have completed two years of ancient Greek, or be in the second year of their Greek program.

Living arrangements
Students stay in doubles and triples in hotels and hostels while traveling around Greece.

Cost*
Billed by Ohio University –Ohio University students and Non-Ohio University students participating for credit
- Tuition: one quarter of full-time OU tuition (tuition estimator available at http://www.ohio.edu/finance/bursar/tuitionfees.cfm)
- Administrative Fee: $150
- Program Fee: $3500 (includes housing, some meals, orientations, health insurance, and excursions)
*Non-Ohio University students may choose to participate in the program and NOT receive credit for the following cost instead of the above (No transcript will be issued at the end of the program):

Out-of-pocket expenses – all students can anticipate paying the following:
- Passport and photos: $110
- ISIC (international student identification card): $22
- Roundtrip airfare: $1200
- Meals: $2,220
- In-country transportation: $1200
- Site entry fees: $100
- Textbooks and supplies: $200
- Incidentals (laundry, communication, etc.): $200
