Global Public Health has been approved for a Tier III course.
Global Public Health
London, England
Undergraduate and graduate students from all majors can enroll in a College of Health and Human Services public health course offered this winter intersession in London, England. Offered exclusively during the Ohio University Winter Intersession, Global Public Health will expose its students to events, places, organizations, and people significant to the past, present, or future endeavors of the health professions.
Combine excursions including a private guided tour of the British Museum, a visit to the British Air London Eye followed by lunch at the John Snow pub, a boat tour on the Thames River, and a day at the Market at Covent Gardens with mini-lectures on associated public health topics. Also included are trips to Stonehenge excursion and subway travel to an exhibit at the London Science Museum.
This course is not all work, however. Ample time has been set aside to allow for holiday shopping at such famous landmarks as Harrods or Marks and Spencer department stores, as well as a few evening out at the theater, an inviting pub, the movies, or other attractions. In the course of discovering modern London and all it has to offer, we will come to see how so many modern health policies and practices are the result of classical public health measures of centuries ago.

Hotel & meals arrangements
To make this experience as safe as possible, and maximize student exposure to London's rich cultural & social life, we have made arrangements for a block of hotel rooms in the heart of London. Hotel details are subject to change, but we are tentatively booked at The President Hotel in North Central London, located within a short block walk of the world famous British Museum and various theaters.
Courses and credits
Students can register for 5 credits of either undergraduate or graduate credit. Available course numbers include: HLTH699, IH690, EH490, and EH490. Other course number registrations may be possible—check with your major department for specifics.
Students will learn course concepts and content primarily through the many day trips, outings, and excursions integrated into the travel program. In addition to limited selected assigned readings, the course instructor will facilitate several location-specific (on-site) discussions. Emphasis will be placed on the timelessness and novelty of environmental health controls.
NOTE: credits DO NOT count toward your 20 Winter quarter credit hours, and are billed separate from your Winter quarter tuition.
