Art and Art History in Paris

How about doing something really different with your winter intersession? Fulfill a Gen Ed requirement in the cultural capital of Europe during one of the most breathtaking holiday seasons of the year.
"Art and Art History in Paris" invites you to explore and examine the key art forms of the last four centuries as they are presented in the City of Lights.
Using the French capital as your classroom you will survey master artwork housed in the Louvre, the Pompidou Centre and other key Parisian museums. You will tour and observe several historical facades and interiors with private and professional lectures at art-historic venues such as Notre Dame Cathedral, The Louvre, and the Palace of Versailles.
There will also be a visit to the Paris neighborhood of Montmartre, where you can take a self-guided tour of the bohemian lives of Picasso, Degas, Renoir and Van Gogh.

Courses and credits
Art 110* Seeing and Knowing the Visual Arts (4 credits)
Art 300J** Criticism in the Visual Arts (4 credits)
*Art 110 is a new gen ed requirement for all students
**Art 300J is a Junior requirement for all majors.
Eligibility and selection process
This program is open to all Ohio University students in good academic standing.
It is sponsored by Ohio University Pickerington Center and all participants will be required to attend mandatory orientation sessions at the Pickerington campus.

Accommodation & meals
Students will share double rooms in a 2 or 3 star hotel in central Paris. A continental breakfast will be provided each day.

Administrative fee $150
*Program fee includes roundtrip airfare, accommodation, breakfast, roundtrip airport transfer in Paris, daytrip to Versailles, group tours and/or entry fees to 2 Paris museums and 3 landmarks, Paris Metro pass, farewell group dinner, health insurance.
