Program Length

•   Yamada Kazuo short fall semester (mid Sept - late Dec)

•   Full fall semester (mid Sept - early Feb) 

•   Spring semester (early April - mid Aug)


Eligibility and Selection Process
Applicants must have at least one year of college Japanese or the equivalent and possess a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA.
Students who have a judicial record and will be on probation for a judicial offense at any point during the program may petition to study abroad. Click here to read the entire judicial policy.

Application Deadline
Applications for fall semester must be submitted by the end of fall semester the year before.
Applications for spring semester must be submitted by the end of spring semester the year before.

Living Arrangements
Students will live in double-occupancy rooms in an International Student Dorm on the Chubu University campus. Linens will be provided.
The dorm includes kitchen facilities. Students can also order certain weekday meals from an outside caterer. When classes are in session, there is a wide array of cafeterias on campus
offering many varieties of inexpensive meals.

Courses and Credits
Students can earn up to 16 credit hours from the following courses:

•    JAPN 2110,2120: Intermediate Japanese
•    JAPN 3110,3120: Advanced Japanese
•    JAPN 4110,4120: Fourth Year Japanese
•    JAPN 3990: Special Studies

Entry and exit requirements
U.S. citizens are required to have a valid U.S. passport when traveling outside of the United States. If you plan to study or travel abroad in the next year, apply for your passport now.

Some countries also require a visa to legally enter and reside in the country.  Entry and exit requirements for this country can be found here.  US citizens will need a visa or other special documents to enter Japan for up to 90 days. Please also note that visa requirements may vary if you plan to stay in the country longer than the program dates or travel to other countries during or after the program.  Please familiarize yourself with these recommendations and requirements prior to applying to a program.
