Chagas Disease in Ecuador
Chagas disease is a tropical parasitic disease spread to humans and other mammals by an insect vector. If left untreated, this chronic disease is often fatal.
This program takes place in the context of efforts by the Tropical Disease Institute to combat Chagas disease in Ecuador.
The course provides multidisciplinary training in research methodology to students from the USA, Europe and Latin America. It will equip participants with a solid background and the skills to conduct interdisciplinary research in an international setting, while improving their Spanish language proficiency.

Eligibility and Enrollment
This multidisciplinary research course is relevant to students interested in international studies, health and medicine, the environment, international development, health education, international relief work, biology, engineering, political science, economics, sociology, anthropology, economics, and others.
The program is open to undergraduate, graduate and medical students from all higher education institutions in the United States and abroad.
Enrollment is limited to 30 participants. Please e-mail Dr. Grijalva, indicating your interest in participating. Since this is a research project, admissions will be based on the interface between the applicant's interest and expertise, and the specific needs of the project.

Accommodation & meals
Students will stay in shared rooms in a hotel with private bath. Meals will be taken at restaurants and in the communities.
Courses and credits

Up to 15 OHIO credits are available for each track.
