This undergraduate exchange program is with the LAM Institute of East-West Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) located in the heart of the Kowloon district. The city of Hong Kong offers something for everyone: immense cultural diversity, extensive shopping, miles of hiking, and hundreds of restaurants. Although the majority of its seven million residents is ethnically Chinese, official languages include both English and Chinese. Students have access to two sports centers that offer an array of exercise options including a fitness center multi-purpose gymnasium, a soccer field, squash courts, a swimming pool, table tennis rooms, and roof-top tennis courts. Support services are provided by the International Student Exchange Centre (ISEC) who offer counseling services for international students and organize orientation programs to familiarize visiting students with HKBU and Hong Kong culture.

Living Arrangements
Students stay in a 21-story residence hall and may indicate their preference of a roommate from Hong Kong, mainland China, or another international student to enhance the cultural experience. Meals can be purchased individually from one of the dining facilities on campus.

Courses and Credits
Students are expected to register for 15 HKBU credits (approximately 22 quarter credits). Disciplines offering courses taught in English include:  Business, Cinema and Television, Communications, Economics, Geography, History, Humanities, Information Systems Management, Journalism, Political Science, Religion and Philosophy, Social Sciences and Sociology.

HKBU also offers a variety of Chinese cultural courses as well as beginning and intermediate courses in Mandarin.

Billed by Ohio University:

•    Tuition: 1.5 quarters of OU tuition
•    Administrative Fee: $150
•    HTH Health Insurance (per month): $26.60

Out-of-Pocket Expenses:

•    Passport: $100
•    Passport/Visa Photos: $15
•    Roundtrip Airfare: $1600
•    HKBU Administrative Fee
            (visa, orientation, etc.): $215
•    Housing (per semester): $900
•    Air Conditioning (per month): $70
•    Meals (per month): $300-400
•    Textbooks and Supplies: $50
•    Local Transportation (per month): $100
•    Incidentals (per month): $175-200
