OEA Diversity Scholarship

The Office of Education Abroad is committed to making an international experience possible for students from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. The Diversity Scholarship was created to encourage the participation of graduate and undergraduate students from backgrounds typically underrepresented in education abroad. This could include, but is not limited to, students of color, disabled students, first-generation college students or students who are economically disadvantaged.

The standard award amount for this scholarship is $750. However, the award may be increased depending on program length, financial need or total program cost. Students can apply the award toward the international experience of their choice. This includes study, volunteer and internship opportunities offered through Ohio University and its affiliates as well as those offered by other universities and outside organizations.

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate financial need (based on current FAFSA on file at OU)
    • Other extenuating circumstances may be considered. These must be explained and documented in an attachment.
  • Have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be applying or accepted to an international study, intern or volunteer program during Summer or Fall 2012.
  • Be a US citizen or permanent resident alien
