FIRST YEAR- Early Childhood Major

1. Complete EDEC 1600 and EDEC 1001*

2. Compete ENG 1510*

3. Complete HIST 2000, 2010 or POLS 1010*

5. Complete a science with a lab (ex. GEOG 1100)*

6. Earn 30 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 3.0

SECOND YEAR- Early Childhood Major

1. Complete the following EDEC courses:

    EDEC 2001, 2301, 2400, 3610, 3701, 3801*

2. Complete 6 credit hours of math*

3. Complete second science course with a lab*

4. Complete EDTE 2000, 2010, 2020, 2200*

5. Earn 60 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.75

6. Meet with your advisor at least twice to work out a degree completion plan

7. Apply to Advanced Standing in Education (more information)

 

THIRD YEAR- Early Childhood Major

1. Apply to Professional Internship by Oct. 1

2. Complete tier I and tier II requirements

3. Complete all 3000-level ECE content/teaching field courses with "C's" or better

4. Earn 90 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.75

5. Meet with your advisor at least twice

FOURTH YEAR- Early Childhood Major

1. Complete professional internship (preprimary and primary)

2. Complete all program requirements

3. Earn at least 120 credit hours with a minimum GPA of 2.75

4. Take the Ohio Assessment for Educators: See what test(s) to take here

2. Send a final transcript from each institution you attended to OHIO Admissions.

3. Use the OHIO catalog to explore our majors. The catalog can be found at catalogs.ohio.edu.

4. Once you have a major in mind, schedule an appointment with an advisor.

5. Ask your advisor to help you with a degree completion plan

5. Plan to attend a Bobcat Student Orientation.
