Ohio Education Research Center
Building stronger connections between knowing and doing is a critical component in improving Ohio’s education system from preschool through higher education and workforce development. The Ohio Education Research Center (OERC), a statewide network of education research assets, has been created to fulfill this mission. OERC efforts will support educators, researchers, and others to use research findings to fuel school improvement.
As an OERC partner agency, Ohio University participates in the general management of the OERC consortium. This includes annual participation in OERC conference, active engagement in meetings and planning sessions for the OERC Governing Committee, reviewing group materials, operating as a research network in collaboration with the other partners, serving on the Research Agenda Committee, and contributing to other OERC committees according to areas of expertise and interest.
Additionally, Ohio University researchers serve as primary authors of a case study designed in conjunction with the OERC Director each contract year. The topic and structure of the case study will be determined in negotiation with the OERC Director and the Research Agenda Committee, with input from the larger Policy Council.
The University may collaborate with other partners in or beyond the OERC consortium to seek funding for additional case studies or other research based on prioritized topics established through the Research Agenda Committee.
Dr. Valerie Martin Conley, co-director of the Center for Higher Education, serves as the principal investigator from The Patton College of Education as well as site lead for Ohio University, the primary point of contact for the OERC Director and staff. Dr. Anirudh Ruhil serves as the principal investigator from the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs.
Learn more about the OERC, and stay up to date on the latest in Ohio education research through the OERC website. Features include:
