Possible Career Paths/Opportunities

The financial economic program prepares students for employment opportunities in the financial sector. Prospective placements include investment banks, commercial banks, brokerage companies, companies dealing with acquisitions, asset pricing, risk analysis, etc.

In addition to receiving an MFE degree, the financial economic program prepares students to pass the CFA exams. These exams are offered in numerous countries around the world. Those who have passed all three levels of the CFA tests have opportunities to advance to higher ranks in the financial sector.

 

Once specialized in Financial Economics, you will be qualified to pursue job opportunities at:

  1. Bank’s Trust Departments
  2. Mutual Funds
  3. Professional Money Management Firms
  4. Pension Funds
  5. Brokerage Firms
  6. Hedge Funds
  7. Insurance Companies
  8. Investment banks:  Analyze Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), Debt offerings
  9. Non-financial private corporations (like GE, IBM, etc.): Asset valuation, capital market strategy.

A financial analyst in the first seven institutions would do “portfolio strategy” that includes:

  1. Analysis of individual stocks, bonds, etc.
  2. Investment timing
  3. Investment selection
