Financial Aid
Program participants wishing to apply for financial aid must complete a 2013-14 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Completing the 2013-14 FAFSA serves as your only application for federal, state, and institutional financial aid for the entire academic year (summer 2013, fall 2013, and spring 2014). Your initial award letter will reflect financial aid for fall and spring semesters only. If you would like to apply a portion of your financial aid toward your Summer Start Freshman Experience Program costs (including tuition and fees, residence hall, and meal plan expenses, if applicable), email financial.aid@ohio.edu requesting a redistribution of your aid to include the summer semester.
Most aid programs do not allow for additional funding based on summer semester attendance. Typically, you will receive the same amount of financial aid for the summer, fall, and spring semesters that you would receive for the fall and spring. This means, your fall and spring semester aid will most likely be reduced by any aid you receive during the summer. Specifically, if you receive Pell grant funds, your spring portion will be reduced by the amount disbursed to you during the summer. Please note that your high school graduation date must be prior to the start of the second summer session. Also, you will need to provide your final high school transcript to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions before your financial aid can be applied toward your account.
If you have additional financial aid questions, please visit the website for the Office of Student Financial Aid and Scholarship at www.ohio.edu/financialaid or contact the office directly.
