The Media Center functions as the hub of distance learning and audio/visual activity on the Ohio University Eastern Campus.

Distance learning classrooms allow students to enroll in two way interactive classes via compressed video. The instruction takes place both at the Eastern Campus, from Athens, and from the four other Ohio University regional campuses. OUE is a part of the Ohio University Learning Network (OULN).

Faculty and students may inquire about the use of audio/visual equipment and materials from the Media Center. Multimedia computer carts, overhead projectors, dvd players/ vcr players, slide projectors and camcorders may be checked out on loan for classroom projects and presentations.

The Media Center is assists in the creation and distribution of materials for media-assisted courses. These are courses that contain audiocassettes, dvd, and videotape components. Media-assisted courses usually only meet a few times per term and the other assignments are completed via audiocassettes, cds, dvds, and/ or videotape. Many internet courses also require supplemental materials. These materials can be checked out from the Eastern Campus Library.

The Media Center also is responsible for video production and audio production of Ohio University Eastern related projects.

A weekly radio show may be of special interest. "OUE Today" is a public affairs radio broadcast examining issues and topics of interest to the Ohio Valley . The radio show is broadcast each Monday at 6:30 p.m. on WOUB-FM (89.1). The show's host is Dr. David Castle and the producer is Jay Morris.
