The mission of Ohio University Eastern Campus is to help students develop into self-reliant individuals by providing them with a total educational experience of the highest quality in the liberal arts and sciences and in the professions. In particular, we will strive to increase the availability of four-year baccalaureate and masters programs locally while maintaining our commitment to students who are beginning their college careers. In addition, we will continue to expand our distance education offerings through technological innovations including video conferencing and the Internet. We are also committed to helping traditional and non-traditional students of diverse backgrounds reach their potential through a faculty and staff who care deeply and demonstrate that care through personal attention. To cater to the cultural, physical well-being and professional needs of the community, Ohio University Eastern Campus offers cultural events such as lectures, theatrical performances, art exhibitions, a fitness center and professional library services.

Campus Goals

• Enrollment Management

We have set a goal of 2 percent as the annual increase in the enrollment of new and transfer students. This has involved a realignment of the recruiting plan. Recruitment will be a campus-wide mission. A year-long plan of action has been developed. The number of schools visited will increase. There should be constant contact with prospective students. There will be a letter writing campaign to students from key campus people.

• Marketing

A Marketing and Community Visibility Committee has been established and it has been charged to develop a year-long campaign which will be established in consultation with the Communication and Marketing Department on the main campus. We will make marketing a proactive endeavor.

• Community Awareness

Ohio University Eastern Campus needs to increase its presence in St. Clairsville, and the Ohio Valley. There needs to be more community visibility.

• Ohio University Eastern Campus Master Plan

Implement the Ohio University Eastern Campus Master Plan to begin the development and utilization of campus property in order for the campus to be a contributing partner in the economic development plan for Belmont County.

• Build on Current Community Support

The University needs to maintain the current level of community support and strive to increase the support it receives.

• Partnerships

The Eastern Campus will increase partnerships in the region which will support the goals that address enrollment management, community awareness, build on current community support and diversity.

• Diversity

Increase diversity among the faculty, classified staff and administrators. Implement a plan to increase the recruitment and enrollment of a diverse student body.

• The Campus

Implement a plan to renovate the science facilities and add a faculty suite complex to Shannon Hall. Initiate a mini-campaign to raise funds for the renovation of the remainder of Shannon Hall.
