The Junior Bobcat Corner (OUE's Babysitting Service) offers babysitting on weekdays during each semester (check below for hours). It is a drop-off service requiring no reservations. It is open to the children of Ohio University Eastern Campus students and staff. The children must be between three and six years of age and potty-trained. Five hours is the maximum time for a child's stay during one day.
The Junior Bobcat Corner is not a licensed daycare center, because we meet the Ohio requirements for an exemption from daycare licensing, in part, by requiring that the parents must remain in the building while their children are in the service.
The sitters are OUE students who are employed after their written application has been screened; three references called; and background checks implemented. The service also maintains a minimum 2.5 APGA requirement for employment on a term-by-term basis.
Parents fill out policy and medical release forms on their first visit to theJunior Bobcat Corner, Room 221. The cost is $2.00 per hour, per child. For further information, please contact Dr. Paula McMurray-Schwarz, Room 332E, at mcmurray@ohio.edu, or 740-699-2486.
