November 10, 2013 : Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery to display the works of Bumgardner and Jeskey

ST.   CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio (November 10, 2013) – Ohio University Eastern students Tiffany Bumgardner and Jackie Jeskey will present their exhibit at the Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery Tuesday, November 12 through Thursday, December 5.  A reception for the artists will be held on Thursday, November 21 from 6pm – 8pm.  The exhibit entitled "Photography by Tiffany Bumgardner and Jackie Jeskey," showcases the differences in their photographic styles.

"My passion for photography started during my freshman year of college in Pittsburgh when I started photographing my actor roommates and took my first photography course," said Bumgardner.  "This was a nerve wrecking experience as I displayed my images in a room full of working photographers!  My images had a pretty significant success; as the headshots I had taken for my roommate landed her a role as a student in 'Perks of Being a Wallflower' alongside Emma Watson."

According to Bumgardner, the camera has now become her canvas.  "I have been blessed to have traveled the world and I have learned that while we speak in many languages, we see in only one," said Bumgardner.  "As a result, my favorite subjects are people because life is about making connections with others.

'Autumn Leaf' by Jackie Jeskey Wallace In stark contrast to Bumgardner, Jeskey does not photograph people.   "To me, photographing people is unnatural," said Jeskey.  "As soon as you pull out the camera, their body language changes as do their expressions.  I would much rather focus on the natural beauty that surrounds us, yet often goes unnoticed.  My inspiration lies in the blooming flowers, blades of grass, and the setting sun.  As a result, my images for this gallery are short snippets of what some people take for granted."

The Cultural Life Committee at Ohio University Eastern is looking for a large turnout on November 21 for the artist's reception, which starts at 6pm.  "The Theater Department's production of 'The Liar' is set to take place at 7pm that same night," said Jim Casebolt, a member of the committee.  "We hope that folks will make an evening of it on campus by attending both cultural events."

The Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery is open to the public and admission is free.  The art gallery is located on the second floor of Shannon Hall.
