ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio - Ohio University Eastern extended its winning streak to four with a hard fought come from behind 55-51 victory over rival Ohio University Lancaster. But, it wasn't easy. The Cougars led 32-24 at the half and scored the first six points of the second half to extend the lead to 38-24 and force an OUE timeout.
The Panthers All-ORCC guard Alex Kuhn and her teammates promptly responded with an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 38-32 at the 14:38 mark. Kuhn, a sophomore from Monroe Central, hit big shot after big shot down the stretch and OUE finally took the lead 50-49 on a Kuhn three pointer at the three minute mark. The Panthers held on down the stretch as Union Local's Alexus Davis put the defensive clamps on reigning conference MVP and last year's scoring champion Kristy Swinehart.
Kuhn sealed the deal as she calmly netted two free throws with 38 ticks remaining for the eventual final score of 55-51.
Kuhn led OUE with 22 second half points to finish with a game high of 30. She also had 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a great overall effort. Shadyside's Kelsey Holloway chipped in with 8 points and 4 steals, while fellow Tiger alumna Sarah Neavin added 6 points and 6 boards.
Swinehart led the Cougars with 16 points.
OUE improved to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the ORCC
