School Psychologist returns to OUE

Rhonda Dunder with OUE studentsAn Ohio University alumna came back to the Eastern Campus on Thursday, February 16th, to share her experiences as a school psychologist with the current students in the OUE Psychology Club.

Ms. Rhonda Dunder, who currently works for Newark City and Heath City schools in Licking County, talked about what attracted her to the field and answered students' questions about her training and current position.

Dunder was a 1995 graduate of Martins Ferry High School and completed her bachelor's degree in psychology in 1999, having taken almost all of her classes locally at the Eastern Campus before finishing at OHIO's main campus in Athens. She went on to complete a master's degree in psychology and educational specialist certificate in school psychology from Marshall University, and has been working in the field for over a decade.

"I definitely owe a lot of credit to the professors and the people I was associated with at OUE," said Dunder. "My English Professor Dr. Tom Flynn first introduced me to the field of school psychology as a career option and Dr. Jim Casebolt, my former advisor, has supported me throughout my career, including helping me with my thesis research in graduate school. I would recommend Ohio University's Eastern Campus without reservation to anyone. It is a wonderful place."

"We're very proud of Rhonda, and what she has accomplished in her career," said OUE Psychology Professor Dr. Casebolt. "She is a great example of how a local student can take advantage of the opportunity provided by having access to a university education in the community, which can be the springboard to professional and personal success."
