OUE knocks off #4 Penn State Beaver 89-65

ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio - OU Eastern improved to 11-3 with a convincing 89-65 win over visiting Penn State Beaver in St. Clairsville Wednesday night. The Panthers jumped out to a 45-34 halftime lead thanks in large part to a variety of full court pressure defenses that forced the Nittany Lions into 12 first half turnovers. OUE was able to turn these turnovers into 16 first half points.

However, Penn State Beaver did not quit. The #4 ranked team in the USCAA began the second half on a 12-0 run to take the lead at 46-45 with 15:42 remaining in the game. The youthful Panthers responded in kind by outscoring PSB 44-19 the rest of the way and coasted to the lopsided victory.

The difference in the game was the play off the bench as OUE outscored the visitors by a whopping 72-9 margin in this key area.

OUE was led by Barnesville's Allie Doan with 30 points and 7 rebounds. Bridgeport's Rachel Benda finished with 18 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Monroe Central's Alex Kuhn contributed 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Shadyside's Kelsey Holloway recorded 17 points and 6 rebounds. Barnesville's Heidi Hines had 10 markers.

Penn State Beaver was led by Amanda Temple with 24 points. The Nittany Lions fell to 8-3 with the loss. The loss marked the first time this season that PSB fell victim to a regional campus school.

OUE plays host to ORCC rival Miami Hamilton Saturday, January 14 at 1pm.
