Giving to Ohio University Eastern Campus- a Message from the Dean

Dear Alumni and Friends:

Private philanthropy has had a rich and dramatic impact at the Ohio University Eastern Campus. The recently completed Bicentennial Campaign raised the level of giving to historic proportions. The Eastern Campus raised over $3.9 million for scholarships, technological advancements and support of the arts. During the campaign, 32 new scholarships were established which will directly benefit area students, their families and their communities for generations to come.

As one of our thousands of area alumni and loyal community members, you share a pride in what is happening on our campus. The margin of excellence that underlies this pride is made possible by the generous support of alumni and friends like you.

The Eastern Campus works continually to enhance the educational experience for all of our students-both traditional and non-traditional. Among Eastern’s exciting new initiatives that will benefit from your support is the:

Shannon Hall Renovation- Shannon Hall has served the needs of area students well for the past 50 years; however, the classrooms and science laboratories need to be upgraded to support today’s technology and to provide a stimulating learning environment. Bright and attractive classroom settings are essential to enhance the learning experience. Technology has dramatically changed over the past 50 years. To compete and succeed in today’s work environment, our students must be equipped with current technology skills. The Shannon Hall Renovation project is an exciting and much needed project which will directly benefit our students and our campus.

Scholarships- Scholarships assist deserving area students and open the door to education. An investment in our students is an investment in Ohio University Eastern Campus and an investment in the future of our communities.

The Brick Tavern- The Brick Tavern House, built in 1828, is one of the few remaining authentic taverns standing along the National Road. Help is needed to preserve this historic building so that future generations can experience the significance of the National Road and gain greater insight into the history of our nation and of the road that helped to build America.

Congressman Charlie Wilson Leadership Program- This program seeks to honor Congressman Wilson's long time commitment to the Ohio Valley and eastern Ohio. It will provide Ohio University Eastern students with education and training that will increase their knowledge and skills in the area of leadership, with the goal of developing the next generation of leaders who are committed to serving the community and the region.
