On the Eastern Campus, you can obtain an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in one of the areas listed below. Alternatively, you can complete the first two years of almost any of Ohio University's 250 undergraduate programs on the Eastern Campus and then relocate to the campus in Athens, Ohio.You can also easily transfer credits you have earned to another institution. • These programs are designed for students who wish to lay the foundation for a liberal arts education or for those students who want a "stepping stone" between their admittance to college and their bachelor's degree.

Bachelor's Degrees

Applied Management Contact: Michael Schor

• The Bachelor of Science in Applied Management (BSAM) provides students with the knowledge, skills and dispositions necessary for advancement in the field of management.  The students will take coursework that will 1) meet Ohio University’s education and baccalaureate degree requirements; 2) follow naturally and amplify the learning experiences in their associate degree; 3) qualify them for an immediate career in management or for entry into a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) program. This degree is intended as a completion program for students who have completed a two-year degree programs from an accredited community college, regional campus or technical college and for students who wish to complete the requirements for a baccalaureate degree in applied business management.

• The general business major provides you with a broad foundation for a business career. Recent graduates have entered such fields as sales, banking, government services, personnel, advertising, production, and insurance. You earn a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

• The Communication Studies major examines the role of communication in health services, family dynamics, relationships and all levels of organizations. This program emphasizes communication skills and research techniques vital to careers and positions in business, education, government, industry, labor and other organizations.

• This program provides you with the background courses and field experiences that qualify you for positions in community health. You earn a Bachelor of Science in Health (BSH).

• This program is specifically designed for students who have previously completed an associate degree program in a technical area related to criminal justice such as law enforcement, corrections, legal assisting, or human services. It allows such students to acquire the necessary specialization for careers in parole and probation, forensic science, adult and juvenile corrections, and police administration. You earn a Bachelor of Criminal Justice (BCJ).

• This program prepares you to teach in the primary grades (1-3), as well as nursery schools, child-care centers, and Head Start programs. Upon successful completion of the program and the Praxis II exam, you are eligible for an Ohio two-year provisional license. You earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd).

• This program allows students to obtain positions in personal training, fitness consulting, and coaching. Professionals such as physical therapists, athletic trainers, massage therapists, chiropractors, massage therapy, and sports nutritionists use exercise physiology as an integral part of their job. You would earn a Bachelor of Science in Sport Science (BSSpS).

• This program is for students in any major who want to gain knowledge and skills for a career that involves working with the elderly. This 28 hour certificate can be added to any baccalaureate degree.

• This program prepares you for entry-level management and staff positions in hospitals, clinics, home health agencies, managed care organizations, and other emerging areas of the health care industry. You earn a Bachelor of Science in Health (BSH).

• Student and parents alike often ask "what can you do with a History degree?" The answer is you can do whatever you want with a history degree. A degree in history will teach you three very important skills: how to write well, how to carefully analyze evidence, and how to present a strong and succinct argument. Being able to write well and engage in critical analysis are two very marketable skills. If you learn to write and think well, you will have no trouble finding a job. Students choosing to major in history can complete their degree entirely at Ohio University Eastern Campus.

• This program prepares you to teach in grades 4 through 9. Upon successful completion of the program and the Praxis II exam, you are eligible for an Ohio two-year provisional license. You earn a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSEd).

Social Work Contact: Dr. Warren Galbreath

• A Bachelor Degree in Social Work prepares the student to become a licensed social worker. Students who choose this major have a strong desire to help people improve their lives. Social workers are skilled professionals who work to empower individuals, relieve suffering, and affect social change. This program incorporates classes in sociology, psychology, political science, and economics. Students involved in this program will complete a year-long internship in a local human service agency for practical experience.

• This program affords you the opportunity to design your own, unique major by combining available and completed coursework. You earn a Bachelor of Specialized Studies (BSS).

• This program is primarily intended for students who have already completed a two-year degree program from an accredited community college, regional campus, or technical college program and who seek to further their educations by completing the requirements for a baccalaureate degree. You earn a Bachelor of Technical and Applied Studies (BTAS).
