ARHI Diabetes Center
A center in the College of Osteopathic Medical School whose mission is to reduce complications of diabetes in Appalachia and Southeastern Ohio through education and support.
Biotechnology Research and Development Facility
A modern facility offering Ohio University faculty, staff, students, and researchers state-of-the-art instrumentation and research equipment for chemical and biomedical analysis. This Biotechnology Center is designed to support the growing community of biotechnology research at Ohio University and in the southeastern Ohio region.
Diabetes/Endocrine Disease Biorepository
A repository that facilitates the study of endocrine diseases. This program provides an important repository of biological plasma, RNA, and DNA specimens linked to an extensive clinical database, which provides the infrastructure for scientific research in the areas of diabetes, obesity, autoimmunity, atherosclerosis, and other endocrine diseases.
Diabetes: A Family Matter
A website that contains an educational tool kit on the disease. Sharon Denham, a professor in the Ohio University School of Nursing, developed the materials.
Edison Biotechnology Facility
An interdisciplinary research institute of Ohio University that has a dual mission: basic discovery research and development of new technology; and transfer of technology to the private sector for economic benefit in Ohio. The institute seeks to understand the molecular/genetic basis of diseases that disproportionately affect the people of Appalachian Ohio, such as diabetes, obesity and related cardiovascular complications.
Genomics Facility
A facility created to enhance the productivity of researchers on campus and outside the community. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for DNA sequencing, microsatellite analysis, AFLP, SNP screening, DNA microarray scanner, quantitative PCR machine and other equipment to evaluate DNA, RNA and protein integrity. The personnel at the facility also provide training and help with the the design of experiments.
Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Molecular and Cellular Biology
An interdisciplinary graduate program with a focus on molecular and cell biology. The following departments contribute, providing access to world-class research facilities offering students a broad, scientific educational opportunity: Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental and Plant Biology. Many faculty members within this program have research programs that focus on diabetes.
Research Office at Ohio University
