Research Interest

The first project that I am involved is deals with the development of animal model of environmentally-induced heritable genetic and epigenetic differences that can be transmitted from father to offspring. The significance of proposed project is to establish a mouse model for parental transgenerational transmission of epigenetic modifications resulting from diet-induced obesity, which will alter offspring to predispose to obesity and metabolic disease, and may result in new therapeutic strategies.

The second project related to investigation of the effect of antioxidant-fortified diet on kidney function using Zucker rat model of diabetic nephropathy. The long-term goal of this project is to understand mechanisms involved in diabetic nephropathy and to provide better treatment.
