Identify and validate gene targets involved in the genesis and pathogenesis of obesity-induced type 2 diabetes and conditions associated with the disease. Concentrating efforts on CIDE-A, a gene whose expression is increase in the liver of obese animals and may be involved in hepatic lipid accumulation.
