
Clinical Care

Clinical Mission: To provide an interdisciplinary approach to diabetes clinical care in a dynamic environment through patient education, training and a full array of comprehensive clinical services.
Clinical Emphasis:
- Care of people with diabetes and diabetes related illnesses
- Inpatient and outpatient care
- Insulin pump training and use of sensors
- Clinical research focusing on both investigator initiated research and pharmacologic trials
- Diabetes Fellowship Program to train primary care physicians to be "diabetologists" or diabetes specialists
- Comprehensive diabetes education for patients
- Interdisciplinary training for counselors and Pharm.D. students who rotate through the office
- Training for third and fourth year medical students and residents who rotate through the office
- Diabetes Navigator programs, one with AmeriCorps working with kids with type 1 diabetes and one with Ohio University Family Navigator
- Support groups in schools for children with type 1 diabetes, for college-aged adults with type 1 and one for adults with all types
