“It’s nice that, with 175 students in the seats, the room in Walter Hall feels much smaller than other rooms I’ve taught in,” says Dr. Lauren McMills, assistant chair and professor in the Department of Chemistry. “It feels like fewer students and has a more intimate atmosphere.”
Dr. McMills’ classroom is in a new building made possible by a $5 million gift from Robert D. Walter, BSME ’67, HON ’97, chairman of the Ohio University Board of Trustees and CEO of Cardinal Health Inc., and his wife, Margaret “Peggy” McGreevy Walter, BFA ’67. Walter Hall hosted its first classes in winter quarter and by the spring, more than 6,600 students had enrolled in some 84 courses taught there.
