Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee
The Ohio University Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee consists of faculty, student, staff and community representatives who are committed to developing a comprehensive set of University and local activities to honor and commemorate the contributions and work of Dr. King, as well as promote the service mission that has evolved as part of the MLK Holiday and provide opportunities for students and community members to learn about the appreciation of difference and social justice. The committee is co-chaired by Stacey Brinkley, OMSAR, and Janice Wright, Health & Human Services, and will meet monthly during the academic year. Appointments are annual and can be renewed for up to three years. The Vice Provost for Diversity, Access and Equity will serve as an ad hoc member.President's Advisory Committee on Disabilities
President's Advisory Committee on Disabilities The committee is charged to "review, analyze, prioritize and recommend such actions which are necessary and appropriate to maintain Ohio University's compliance with both the letter and spirit of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The committee will ensure that the University develops and carries out all policies of program accessibility as well as vigorously pursuing the elimination of architectural and attitudinal barriers."University Diversity Commission
The Ohio University Diversity Commission (UDC) is a standing committee to advise and make specific recommendations to the President, the Provost and the Vice Provost for Diversity, Access and Equity on campus-wide diversity issues. The UDC will assist the vice provost in strategizing about policies, programs, activities, and initiatives across all Ohio University campuses to enhance university progress in diversity, particularly in the areas of campus climate and recruiting a diverse and talented faculty, staff and student body. The UDC will provide recommendations on assessment of campus diversity efforts, review university diversity policies and efforts, assist in the development and implementation of new policies and initiatives, and promote diversity as a core university value. The Commission will have representatives from across the university and will include community representatives as well, and is chaired by the Vice Provost for Diversity, Access and Equity. The commission will meet monthly during the academic year. Appointments are biennial and can be renewed for up to two terms.
