Remembering Robert (Bob) Axline, Jr.

Robert Paul Axline, Jr., 75, died on Wednesday, July 27, 2011, from a heart attack. He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Jean, two sons, seven grandchildren, a brother, two half-brothers, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob aided Ohio University, his beloved alma mater, in many ways and for many years. He served on the Foundation Board, the Alumni Association Board of Directors, the Business Professional Sales Advisory Board, the 1804 Fund Campaign, and, of course, the Cutler Scholars Board, where we grew to love his friendly demeanor and ever-helpful ways.

He was the founder & CEO of Plastic Card Systems, Inc., which is a family-run business that sells automatic identification systems. He was a recipient of several prestigious awards at Ohio University, including the John C. Baker Award, an Alumni Associations Medal of Merit, and in 1992, the Alumnus of the Year Award.

Bob enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, as well as sailing the waters of Chatham and skiing the trails of Mt. Snow, Vermont, with his family and friends. Bob was a very generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. The Cutler Scholars program will miss him dearly and extend our deepest sympathies to his family.
