Annual Mind, Body & Soul Women's Conference

Time:  9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Location: Baker Center, Ballroom

This conference is designed to give the mothers, faculty, staff and students of African descent the opportunity to share in sistertalking, sisterspeaking and sistersharing. Valerie Burton is the keynote speaker. Cost of the conference is $20.00 and includes a continental breakfast, breakout sessions, and lunch. This event is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Programs, Black Student Cultural Programming Board (BSCPB), and the Division of Student Affairs. Annual Ms. Bronze Pageant

An elegant event allowing minority women to express themselves to the Athens community. Sponsored by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Tickets are $5.

Blackburn Spencer Achievement and Scholarship Award Reception

Location:  BUC, Ballroom

This scholarship and award program was established in honor of Martha Jane Hunley Blackburn, the first African American woman to graduate from Ohio University and Donald A. Spencer, the first African American to serve as chairman of the Ohio University Board of Trustees.All scholarship and achievement award recipients will be announced and recognized at this event.

International Street Fair

Time: 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm

Join a parade of world flags with live entertainment. International organizations and community groups will have booths and various cultural performances, serve authentic cuisine, and display arts and crafts from around the world.

Native American Cooking Traditions

Time:  6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Location:  United Campus Ministry, basement

Members of the Native Peoples Awareness Coalition will prepare and share several different traditional dishes. There will be dishes that are vegetarian as well as meat-based dishes. Generally, the main dish is prepared with buffalo meat. This is a potluck event, so attendees are welcome to bring a dish or item or leave a donation.
