Artist Statement: Tanya Thompson, a native of Chicago, Illinois, studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, the American Academy of Art in Chicago, and in Montreux, Switzerland. An artist and accessories designer, Thompson enjoyed success with her work in Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean. After settling in Athens with her husband, she indulged her interest in history and archaeology, two things that inspired not only her art, but which drove her interest in the show of her small family's amazing hat collection. Thompson's beautiful grandmother will turn 103 in August. Many of her and her mothers hats are included in this collection as well as her sisters, daughters, and grand daughters.
