How to get involved
The Mental Health Peer Advocates may be students of any academic year or major. The Mental Health Peer Advocates are students who:
-
Take a proactive stance towards addressing mental health concerns in their community (i.e., seek to refer students to counseling)
-
Are empathetic to psychological concerns, and embrace seeking support for psychological distress
-
Desire to communicate the student voice regarding mental health issues to Counseling and Psychological Services and the Division of Student Affairs
-
Advocate for student needs regarding mental health care within CPS and the Division of Student Affairs
-
Are comfortable talking about the mental health concerns commonly experienced by college students
-
Are recognized by their peers as someone they would trust to guide them to appropriate psychological resources
