The Ohio University Classified and Administrative senates, with the support from the offices of the President, the Executive Vice President and Provost, and the Vice President for Finance and Administration invite you to attend the professional development seminar scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27 in Baker University Center Ballroom.

“The seminar being offered through Ohio University Classified and Administrative senates will provide unique opportunities to assess and ultimately enhance progress toward our shared values,” said President Roderick J. McDavis. “I encourage all classified and administrative professionals to attend and contribute to this important discussion.”

Vice President for Finance and Administration Stephen Golding said the senates have been working hard to develop a seminar that relates to the University's classified and administrative employees.

"I believe all employees within these classifications will find value from attending the seminar," Golding said.

The event will be conducted by Tracy Kitts, owner and operator of Tracy Kitts, Consulting LLC, and will focus on professionalism and respect in the workplace.

“The topics suggested by the Classified and Administrative Senate leadership for this seminar are on point for a healthy organization,” said Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit. “My experience across all of our units and all of our campuses is that we have talented, dedicated employees who strive for utmost professionalism. I see this seminar as an opportunity to discuss strategies and best practices for continuing to enhance the culture of civility and mutual respect.”

According to seminar facilitator Tracy Kitts, the session is designed to create effective teams while considering respect, professionalism and conflict resolution in the workplace. Kitts answers the questions:

What defines a great place to work?

Many organizations have identified flexibility and respect as core competencies for success, but how do we get there?

Who is responsible?

Participants in this seminar will learn why a common purpose, shared core values and practicing good communication are important in creating the ideal workplace. Participants will also discuss behaviors, and be given tools, that will help create the engaging and respectful workplace we all desire.
