Campus Recreation expands services for patrons, members

Monthly memberships and an online membership renewal process are among the new benefits available to patrons with several Ohio University Campus Recreation facilities.

The Aquatic Center and the Charles J. Ping Recreation Center implemented a monthly membership option in fall 2018. Walter Fieldhouse currently offers day passes, while Bird Ice Arena has implemented a new multi-visit pass for Rec Skate and Freestyle Skate.

Member Services Coordinator Brittany Barten said monthly memberships offer more versatility and provide more options for summer students and visiting faculty, staff and students. “It was really exciting to be able to introduce changes this semester and honor the requests of our patrons,” she added.

Bank deductions for annual memberships at the Aquatic Center, Golf and Tennis Center and Ping Center continue to offer patrons a convenient and budget-friendly payment option. “Bank deduction allows members to disperse their membership payment monthly, instead of paying in one lump sum,” Barten explained.

In addition, patrons can now purchase and renew memberships online. Campus Recreation now notifies members via email about expiring memberships. Annual members will receive an email notification 31 days prior to their membership expiring, while monthly members will receive notification five days before their membership expires.

“We want to give our members ample notice that their membership is about to expire, because we know how dedicated they are to their daily routines,” Barten said. “We hope that this new process will provide more convenient options for renewing their pass and assist in keeping their routine.”
