Nominate a faculty member for a teaching excellence award by Sept. 24

President N. Duane Nellis and Executive Vice President and Provost Chaden Djalali invite Ohio University students, faculty, and alumni to nominate excellent teachers from among faculty on any of our campuses for consideration for two prestigious teaching awards.

The Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching recognizes exemplary full-time Group II faculty and the Presidential Teacher Award recognizes exemplary full-time tenured Group I faculty.

Selection committees for both awards evaluate nominees on their excellence in teaching and meritorious academic pursuits both inside and outside the classroom, as acknowledged by peers and students, including teaching practices and innovations, influences on curriculum, student mentoring, colleague mentoring, and scholarship with respect to teaching.

Award winners hold either the title of Presidential Teacher or Provost Teacher for three years and receive $1,000 annually ($3,000 total) during that time.

Because students and alumni do not always know whether a favorite teacher is a Group I or Group II faculty member, nominations for both awards use the same form. Office staff review the nominations and apply them to the appropriate award.

The deadline for nominations is Monday, Sept. 24, 2018.
