iCUE Spotlight: Feb. 22-28, 2019

Winter Dance Concert

Friday, Feb. 22-Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, 7:30 - 9 p.m. Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium, 33 University Terrace, Athens OH 45701

Ohio University dance majors will celebrate the Dance Department's 50th birthday during the Winter Dance Concert. General admission tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the Memorial Auditorium Ticket Office at 740-593-1780. There will be a special free reception Friday, Feb. 22, directly following the performance.

Brown Bag Lunch - How Your Office Set-Up Can Help or Hinder During Emergency Situations

Ohio University Police Officer John Stabler will discuss practical solutions on how to evaluate and lay out office space for optimal benefit not only for daily business function, but also for safety, security and evacuation during an emergency. 

Americorps Panel Discussion  

Monday, Feb. 25, 2019, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m., Friends of the Libraries Room, Alden Library 319, Athens OH 45701

Americorps allows college students to gain full-time real world experience in your field of interest. Students are paid $13,732 per year with an educational award of $5,920 applied to past or future educational debt. Open to everyone, you do not need to be a current student. There are opportunities in all states. Positions include non-profit organizations, agencies, schools and community-based programs. There will be food served.

Scripps Public Relations Student Society of America and the Bateman Team present a panel discussing diversity and inclusion in the communications field. Four panelists from diverse backgrounds will be speaking about their experiences in communications followed by a Q&A.

Microsoft OneDrive is a cloud-based platform for file storage that integrates with other Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams). It provides storage for files and folders that can be accessed from anywhere and shared with anyone. Space is limited, so please register.

What OneDrive and Groups Offer:

19th annual Lazaroff Lecture | Jewish Women, Conversion, and Apostasy in Late Medieval Spain

The History Department will host the 2019 Lazaroff Lecture featuring Dr. Alexandra Guerson and Dr. Dana Wessell Lightfoot. The lecture is titled, “When Astruga Became Blanca: Understanding Jewish Women, Conversion, and Apostasy in Late Medieval Spain.” It will be followed by a reception.
 

Contemporary History | Chinese Trade Wars in Historical Context

Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Baker University Center 242

The Contemporary History Institute welcomes Dr. Felix Boecking on Feb. 28 to kick off CHI’s spring 2019 lecture series. A senior lecturer in Modern Chinese Economic and Political History at the University of Edinburgh, Boecking will present, “No Great Wall: Trade, Tariffs, and Nationalism in Republican China, 1927-1945.” Drawing on his recent book, his talk will focus on the current trade wars by drawing from historical lessons.
