The Ohio University Emeriti Association is a non-profit association consisting of faculty and administrative presidential appointees who have completed a period of meritorious service to the University, and have been awarded Emeritus or Emerita status by the Ohio University Board of Trustees.
The Executive Board is established annually and meets monthly to oversee this lively, social organization. The Emeriti Association sponsors several events each year and serves two local arts institutions. Volunteers also offer support at special University events and are active in fundraising that focuses on developing and sustaining the Emeriti Park on the Athens Campus.
The Association held their last monthly luncheon of the academic year in June, where Distinguished Service Awards were presented to members and friends.

Emeriti Association Treasurer, Ed Baum, presents Jean Drevenstedt with the Distinguished Service Award for her work on the Park Committee. Drevenstedt spent countless hours sifting through years of University Board of Trustees minutes to document the names of those who were awarded emeritus/a status, to justify the appropriateness of naming the park in their honor.
Edie Russ received the Distinguished Service Award, plus a Special Board Recognition, upon her retirement from an eight-year editorship of the Emeriti Association newsletter. The award was presented by Dru Riley Evarts, president of the Association.
Recipients of the Special Board Recognition were Ruth and Richard Nostrant, for combined 32 years of service to the Association, including terms on the Executive Board as treasurer, secretary and reservations clerks. The couple previously received the Distinguished Service Award in 2009. The award was presented by Dru Riley Evarts, president of the Association.
Janis Miller-Fox was awarded the Special Board Recognition of “friend” membership in the Emeriti Association for nine years of service as University liaison, during which she tracked the Association’s funds that were handled by the Ohio University Foundation and expedited cooperative Emeriti-University projects. The award was presented by Dru Riley Evarts, president of the Association.
