Athens Campus ranked 15th in state for return on investment

Ohio University's Athens Campus has been ranked among the top colleges in the state for providing students the best return on their investment.

The rankings were released last week by Affordable Colleges Online, a website that provides students with information about affordable higher education options.

Affordable Colleges Online analyzed nearly 400 private and publicly-funded colleges in Ohio and ranked the top 44 colleges that provide students the highest return on their investment. OHIO's Athens Campus was ranked 15th.

"This ranking reflects the quality of academic programs offered at Ohio University that position our students to succeed in the workplace, as well as the University's commitment to its students and the taxpayers to provide an affordable higher education," said Craig Cornell, vice provost for enrollment management. "It shows that an investment in higher education for students and parents is an investment in the future, and at OHIO the future of our students is our top priority."

The rankings were based on several criteria, including:

  • Net tuition prices, using data from the National Center for Education Statistics and the Integrated Post-Secondary Education Data System
  • Graduates' average starting salaries and return on investment calculation, provided by PayScale
