Devereaux Poling, an associate professor at the Zanesville Campus, was nominated by her colleagues for the Ohio University Regional Higher Education Outstanding Professor Award and was selected for the honor by a committee of faculty throughout the regional higher education system of the University.
Poling was recognized for effectiveness of her approaches to learning and design of her courses and outstanding student evaluations. In addition, her research interest of professional development as it relates to unique challenges and opportunities in a regional campus context were noted as was her commitment to engaging undergraduate students in research efforts.
In addition to outstanding teaching and research, Poling was acknowledged for administrative and governance service to the University as well as her scholarship and presentation at professional organizations.
“Dev is an outstanding role model for engaging students in research and creative activity. She demonstrates excellence in teaching and research, while also engaging in service, both to community and the campus,” stated Dr. Jenifer Cushman, dean of Ohio University Zanesville.
A 15-year member of the Ohio University Zanesville family, Poling’s contributions to teaching, scholarship and service both to the University and in the community are worthy of recognition.
