Patton College's Art Extravaganza features Coolville Elementary artists

Budding artists from Coolville Elementary received the red-carpet treatment at the Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education on Monday during the eighth annual Art Extravaganza.

Each year the college showcases the art of a local elementary school’s students. On Monday, nearly 70 people, including students, families, and friends filled McCracken Hall’s first-floor hallway for the unveiling of artwork from 35 Coolville Elementary students ranging from kindergarten through sixth grade.

“We’re glad to continue this wonderful tradition of encouraging our region’s youngest artists,” said Dean of The Patton College Renée Middleton. “Collaborations like this one, between Ohio University and our local schools, enrich all of us.”

The Art Extravaganza included refreshments and the first chance to view the art that will be auctioned to the public on Nov. 17.

The Athens community is invited to preview the art to see the work of these young artists before they make it big. Proceeds from the fall auction go to the artists and the Coolville Elementary Art Program.
