Spring Career and Internship Fair to be held Feb. 18

Career and Leadership Development Center offering ‘Prepare for the Fair’ workshops

Ohio University’s Career and Leadership Development Center (CLDC) will host its Spring Career and Internship Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, in the Baker University Center Ballroom.

This biannual career fair is open to all OHIO students and alumni and provides an opportunity to network with representatives from more than 100 companies, all in one location. A full list of prospective employers attending the fair as well as the positions those employers are seeking is available online.

“The spring fair is an especially good opportunity for summer internships and May graduates,” said Associate Director for Employer Relations Kimberly Blue.

In an effort to prepare students for the Career and Internship Fair and to help them polish their professional skills, the CLDC is hosting “Prepare for the Fair” workshops Feb. 11-14.
Those workshops include:

  • Professional Etiquette Dinner Feb. 11 in the Baker University Center Ballroom. Tickets for this event have already sold out.
  • Resume Essentials from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 12 in Baker University Center 503. Students may attend this event throughout the day and are encouraged to bring their resumes for review.
  • Mock Interview Day on Feb. 13. Students may sign up for a time and location to be interviewed and may select a face-to-face, telephone or Skype interview. To sign up for this event, visit http://www.ohio.edu/careerandleadership/career-workshops.cfm.
  • Navigate the Career Fair Maze at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 in Baker University Center 503 and at 3 p.m. Feb. 14 in Copeland 007. This is a great opportunity for students to find out where the companies they are most interested in will be located at the fair and to map out a game plan for the day of the fair.

Students interested in attending the Spring Career and Internship Fair must dress appropriately and bring their OHIO ID in order to be admitted and should come to the event with copies of their current resume. The Career and Leadership Development Center offers advice on fair etiquette and professional dress standards at http://www.ohio.edu/careerandleadership/students-alumni/job-search/career-fairs.cfm.

“Employers like to begin connecting with students earlier and earlier in their career in order to build a relationship,” Blue said, emphasizing the importance of students starting their professional networking early in their college years.

An estimated 1,400 OHIO students attended the Fall Career and Internship Fair.
